Living life with a hope-filled expectancy

One of my favorite games to play from my childhood was a game called Jenga.  Players were challenged to carefully remove interwoven blocks of wood, which were stacked in the form of a tower.  As individual blocks would be removed, the structure became increasingly unstable, until finally the remaining blocks would come crashing down due to its instability.  I remember playing the game with a keen sense of awareness so that I would not be the one to cause the stack to fall.  Strategically, I would consider which piece to remove, and with carefully precision, remove the game piece from its position. Every move was made with an awareness and expectancy of the inevitable collapse of the game pieces.  That awareness and expectancy is what I would like to make the center of this month’s article.  Though the Jenga game looked forward to a pending doom that accounted for the carefulness and awareness with which the game was played, the Christian life, on the other hand, is driven by an expectation that is hope-filled.  Titus 2:13 reminds us of a coming event to which we as believers are to look forward, when it says, “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ.”  The Apostle Paul communicates that we are to be looking with hope-filled anticipation of this event when he calls it the blessed hope and the glorious appearing.
