Covenant

Because God is Creator of all things, including every living thing, and a God that loves all mankind and desires to have fellowship with man and have man be reconciled to Him; and

Because man is a sinner by nature and separated from God by man’s sin and understanding from the inerrant Holy Bible that man can only be reconciled to

God through Jesus Christ and having individually received Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior and having been baptized by immersion in obedience to the Scriptures;

We, at Maranatha Baptist Church covenant together to:

Praise and honor God with all we have;

Separate unto God from the world and worldly things;

Serve God in giving our tithes, offerings and talents;

Pray without ceasing;

Train up our children to fear and serve God;

Edify ourselves and the body of Christ by the studying, preaching and teaching of the Holy Scriptures;

Love, honor, support and edify one another in good times and bad;

Recognize that the actions of an individual affect the whole body;

Resolve differences according to the Holy Scriptures;

Accept church discipline willingly or resign membership quietly;

Partake of Holy Communion;

Attend services at every possible opportunity;

Evangelize the unsaved with the Gospel of Christ;

Support domestic and foreign missions;

Look forward to the return of Christ and our ascension to Heaven;

Further, we, at Maranatha Baptist Church covenant together to refrain from:

Backbiting;

Libel or Slander;

Fornication, lust, premarital intercourse, adultery;

Homosexuality, sexual perversion or licentious behavior;

Strong drink, drugs and tobacco;

Gambling;

Foul language;

Rock or inappropriate music;

And in our absence from Maranatha Baptist Church, we resolve to unite with another church of like faith.
